Paperback cover reveal
Some months after the hardback comes out, it's time for discussions about the paperback cover design. I'd always assumed it was the same, but it's often quite different. It's amazing how many people are involved in the decision too. From the sales and publicity team at the publishers to large book retailers like Waterstones, opinions about the best way to connect with potential buyers are gathered.
Sometimes it's about a visual connection with another book that the reader enjoyed - a bit like a subconscious version of Amazon's 'if you liked that you may like this' function. Sometimes it's a new designer giving a fresh angle on your story. Either way, it's fascinating.
After discussions about colours and quotes, this beautiful image arrived in my inbox. I hope you like it.
